Yoga

Yoga is an ancient and powerful discipline which, regardless of age, health or lifestyle, can have lasting benefits on all aspects of our lives when practiced sincerely. It is a complete system for physical, mental and spiritual well-being, which as well as the physical postures widely practiced today, also includes a healthy diet, pre-meditation breathing and relaxation techniques. The most advanced forms of meditation and self-realisation are also a part of yoga.
Trikonasana

My classes focus on the practice of physical postures (asana) and breath work (pranayama).

I also incorporate somatic movement – a unique brain to muscle re-education – to help you unlock unnecessary tension and gain an internal sense of how to align your body in postures.

Some of the many benefits are increased flexibility, inner and outer balance in the body, greater mental clarity and you get to enjoy deeper levels of self awareness and relaxation.

Over time you will find your personal experience of yoga or “your practice” will evolve and although the postures themselves do not change, your relationship to them will. In this way, yoga is ever fresh and continually challenging.

Whether you are new to yoga, or have been practicing for some time, you are welcome to join one of my classes:

Somatic Yoga

We begin each class with simple but precise somatic movements to help recognise and release patterns of held tension. Through these movements we re-programme the way our brain senses and controls muscles. Somatic movements help us regain voluntary control of key muscles, and is the most effective way to relief tight and painful muscles for the long-term.

We follow this with a sequence of strengthening and restorative postures, and finish with a deep and conscious rest.

Classes can be adapted for pregnancy, and specifically recommended postnatally.
